Hey there! Today, let’s talk about some common myths about email marketing that aren’t true at all. You know how sometimes people tell you things that sound right but actually aren’t? Well, that happens in email marketing too!
Myth #1: “You Need Lots of Money to Build an Email List”
This is totally wrong! Think of building an email list like making friends – you don’t need money to do that, right? Here are some simple ways to grow your email list without spending much:
- Use your social media accounts – Just add a link where people can sign up for your emails
- Give away free stuff – Like cool guides or special discount codes
- Do online classes or talks – People give you their email to join
- Make friends at events – Meet people and invite them to join your list
- Add sign-up forms to your website – Make them pop up with special offers
- Team up with others – Work with people who already have followers
Myth #2: “Nobody Wants to Get Emails from Me”
Wrong again! Here’s the truth: if people sign up for your emails, they WANT to hear from you! It’s like when you subscribe to your favorite YouTube channel – you do it because you want to see their videos, right?
Just remember to:
- Send stuff they care about
- Don’t just try to sell things all the time
- Make your emails interesting and helpful
Myth #3: “Email Marketing is Dead”
Nope! Email is still going strong after many years. While apps like TikTok or Instagram might come and go, email stays around. It’s like the tortoise in the race – slow and steady, but always reliable!
Myth #4: “Certain Words Will Get Your Emails Marked as Spam”
This isn’t true! What really matters is:
- How many people open and read your emails
- If people mark your emails as spam
- If you’re sending emails to people who want them
The Truth About Getting Started: Don’t Wait for Perfect
Here’s something important I learned from my mentor John: don’t wait until everything is perfect to start. It’s better to: Start small and Keep improving as you go.
Remember, getting started is more important than being perfect!
You know what? This isn’t just about email marketing. I hear excuses all the time from people trying to:
- Start a business
- Save money for college
- Begin a new hobby
- Plan for retirement
Sometimes we spend so much time reading about what to do that we never actually do it! That’s like reading about how to ride a bike but never getting on one.
The secret is simple: just start today. Do one small thing. Maybe it’s writing your first email or making your first sign-up form. It doesn’t have to be perfect. Think of it like playing a video game – you get better by playing, not by reading about it!
If you work on it a little bit every day:
- Your skills will grow
- You’ll learn what works
- You’ll build momentum
- You’ll make real connections with people
Remember: if you don’t want to spend money, you can always do it yourself. Making friends and real connections with people often works better than paying for fancy advertising anyway!
What do you think? Have you heard any other myths about email marketing that need to be proven wrong?
Bonus Tip:
I learned everything about email marketing from John. He taught me which platform is best, how to set up an account, create a landing page, design a sign-up form, and set up campaigns.
On top of that, he provides a 99-day follow-up email sequence, lead magnet strategies, and everything else you need to build your list fast and earn money at the same time.
I highly recommend watching his free webinar training—it’s a game-changer!
